I've begun a journey in the past few weeks. It's exciting and full of accomplishments already, however I have a long way to go before I will be a butterfly. I have always wanted to be a person who wasn't tied down by objects or possessions. I have always wanted to be a person who didn't need a lot of money to live and be happy. I have always envied those who were able to garden, sew, bake, cook, and do all those things we seem to rely on others for in our current society. This is my summer to transform myself. I have all the resources and faculties I need to make this happen, I just need to get off my pudgy bottom and do it!
My goals for this summer:
1. Consistently bake my own bread
2. Learn how to sew and make some clothes for me and for my daughter
3. Reduce the amount of money I spend on things I don't need or that I can make for myself considerably (I don't have an exact figure as of yet)
4. Stop eating out or getting coffee out places except for select times when I am in need of companionship or just time outside the house. Hopefully these times will only be once or twice every two weeks.
5. Learn how to cook so that we are eating fresh breakfast/lunch/dinner that wasn't from a box or frozen. We will also eat at the table for every meal as a means of having a restful time together enjoying each other's company.
6. Set aside time everyday for learning how to garden and preparing a place for next years garden (I think it's too late in the season for it right now, but with as much as I know about gardening I really have no clue!)
I'll add to these goals later as I'm sure I'll find more things I want to do. I've already begun experimenting with recipes and I've made a date with my mom and sister to begin learning how to sew so I feel like I am heading in the right direction -- now if I can just stay on track!
I'll share little tidbits of my days, pictures of projects, and also some insight as to how these changes are affecting me and my family. Hopefully you'll enjoy it as much as I will and I hope you'll hold me accountable if I start to veer from the path to happiness haha!
